New or Used Copier?
Should I go with a new digital photocopier, and why? What about the late model previously owned or lease repossession system? Would an even older unit, 3-5 years, that was rebuilt and guaranteed, satisfy my needs? All good questions. We sell new and refurbished and here is some consultive advice and insight.
Not only will digital units allow you to print, many will let you add faxing, scanning, and complete document storage/archiving and retrieval electronically---reducing labor cost dramatically while saving paper cost and floor space since most filing cabinets are eliminated. With digital you can acquire complete document management center that will copy/print/fax/scan .... all in one reliable system.
Readers Digest Version...If you want new and perfect, and/or want to print to the copier as well, go digital. If you do not want to print to it, and want near new and just about perfect at half the price, select a late model lease repossession copier.
The longer fuller explanation for those with a need for the details:
What is a Digital Copier?
Nothing quite matches up to the New Digital Systems…they smell good, look good, work good, and are virtually trouble free…get ‘em and forget ‘em. Digital units have 50% fewer moving parts than the old analog ones, enhancing reliability and durability. The image quality is superior with 600X2400 DPI on most models… text, photos, and graphics will be clear and crisp. Our latest Toshiba series of copiers has been awarded over 139 separate patents. These innovations have resulted in longer running time between preventative maintenance incidents and much higher monthly volume ratings in the same speed copiers when compared to other brands, and to our analog systems. The investment to maintain and operate these systems is lower than older copiers, and far less than a laser printer image cost.
Even if you do not connect the digital copying system to the network, the reasons detailed above are more than compelling for acquiring one, especially if you want a brand new copier, since new digitals are about the same price as new analogs. The second reason to get a digital is to connect it to your network so it can be used as a high speed and versatile laser printer. Users can send print jobs to it just like any other printer, yet select duplexing, sorting, stapling, 11x17 size paper, and many other features printers do not offer. In some cases the 2-5 cents per copy savings alone on laser printer costs will pay for this copier. Do the math, just 10,000 copies deferred to the digital copier saves $200-$500 a month….20,000 could save $1000.00 a month!!
The Toshiba Digital models have some unique to the industry qualities. The major components of the copiers are modular. That means when the time comes for preventive maintenance on a particular component, our service tech brings another one with them and exchanges them. They take yours back to the shop for service. The result is your copier has more up time than a regular analog copier. What used to be a 3-4 hour preventive maintenance takes a half hour or so. The reliability. flexibility and overall performance of these machines has been spectacular—even for Toshiba, which has always been a very sturdy copier.
Our digital Toshibas have stackless duplexing that creates less static and eliminates jams common to the function on other units. Digital copiers do not sort like old units, the sets are produced in whole since images come from originals that were scanned in, so you get finished products right away without waiting for the whole job to complete. This eliminates starting over on a big job if there is a rare jam or interruption...the copier knows where it is at, and has the image in memory...no throwing away copies or wasted time. You can also have the sets staples down the side in book fashion, or saddle stitched in the center of the page for fold over booklets.
Quality and Guaranteed Reconditioned Copiers
If you really want a bargain…the best buy available that will still do great work and be fully guaranteed, we offer quality systems in the 3-5 year old range. Copy count on these units is everything, just as mileage is key when buying a car. A 1998 model car with 10,000 miles would be preferred to a 1999 unit with 75,000 miles…copiers are the same way. We have strong relationships with lease companies that give us first selection of return copiers…you guessed it, we take the lowest count ones and leave the high meter units for the next buyers. Even though they have low counts, we still rebuild these copiers completely, replacing all wearable parts, and fully testing them. You can get amazingly featured copiers, with great quality and reliability, and investment amounts equaling 15-25% of their original price. If you have excessive problems or service, our 5-year replacement guarantee has got you covered, we just swap it out. Should you want something different, decide a digital is what you need…no problem, our 100% upgrade for the first year will ensure you made the correct choice.
